Pennsylvania National Horse Show

Hey y'all! I went to Harrisburg to watch USEF Medal Finals. It was so cool to see in person and I can't wait until I get to do that!

After seeing it, I realize how challenging, mentally and physically it is for both horse and rider. There is so much prep that goes into not only doing well at finals, but doing well enough all year to make it there. I've seen the journey personally with people from my barns, but it's just very eye opening to actually see the finals in person. I want to congratulate everyone who showed at Harrisburg!

USEF Medal Finals Results are as follows: (257 Competed)
1. Meg O'Mara
2. Lillie Keenan
3. Sydney Shulman
4. Hasbrouck Donovan
5. Lydia Ulrich
6. Jacob Pope
7. Hannah Von Heidegger
8. Charlotte Jacobs
9. Liza Finsness
10. Elizabeth Benson

A HUGE congratulations to all of these riders!

Summer Shows!

Alrighty, onto the shows!
The shows I went to this summer:

  • Devon
  • Atlanta Summer Classic (Week I and II)
  • Charleston Summer Classic (Week I and II)
  • Kentucky Summer Classic (Week II)
  • US Pony Finals
Okay, so I didn't show at Devon because Jeb and I did the greens last year but I went with my barn (Tennessee) to watch. It was awesome! All of my friends did really well and I hope I get to show there sometime in the next few years!

Atlanta was SO much fun!! Both weeks were great and I got to try a lot of horses! None of them were the ones for me but it was awesome to get to ride them. The $25,000 Pony Derby was the second week and Jeb was awesome! I made a mistake on one fence but other than that we were great! Although we missed the second round cutoff by a few points, it was a great learning experience and I'm really happy I got the chance to participate in it.

Charleston!! It was by far the two weeks of the summer!! Jeb was absolutely amazing! The first week we won the hack, were second in the classic, and third in the model. We also did really well over fences and were reserve champion! That qualifies us for Pony Finals 2013! In addition to that, Jeb and I were Kahuna Pony Champion for the large pony division and also Grand Kahuna Pony Champion over all pony divisions! The Kahuna award is given to the pony and rider with the highest scoring combination of model, hack, and classic scores. The second week we won an over fences and the hack! Our second $25,000 Pony Derby was also the second week. We ended up 9th! Jeb was awesome and I was so happy with how we did.

In Kentucky we were third in the hack out of 27! We also got good prizes in the over fences. Jeb was perfect (as always)!  So, the part we've all been waiting for... Pony Finals!! Jeb was AMAZING! I mean absolutely perfect. He has come so far since last year and I couldn't be more proud. It was an important show for me because it was my last with my trainer. I'll be honest, I didn't ride the best I ever have, but I was so happy with Jeb that it just didn't matter. There were 83 ponies in the division.

Overall, it was a fantastic summer and I couldn't be happier with how Jeb was. It's sad to leave my barn in Tennessee but my new barn has been great and I'm looking forward to a fantastic 2013 season.

What a Summer!

Hello everyone!! SO much has happened since my last post! My summer was so insanely busy, I barely had time to do anything other than ride! Two important things:
1) Summer shows were awesome! (more on those later)
2) I moved to Maryland

We'll start with moving. So I found out I had to move in the middle of June and of course my first worry was where to ride! Luckily I found the a place that has been great! I've learned a lot since I moved (about two months ago).

So far, I have only been to one show since moving, HITS Culpeper in September. Jeb and I got good ribbons in the division and learned a LOT (which is of course the point)!

Today I rode Jeb in a clinic which was very informative and helpful. The clinician was very complimentary and taught me a lot in the time I rode.

More coming later!!
